Toy Story Land's marquee coaster — a bouncy, family-friendly ride through Andy's backyard aboard Slinky Dog himself. Short ride, long wait, disproportionately beloved.
Slinky Dog Dash opened in 2018 as part of Toy Story Land. It's a family coaster aboard a stretchy-looking Slinky Dog vehicle, themed as though Andy built the track out of backyard playsets. Two launches, a few gentle drops, no inversions — closer to Barnstormer than Big Thunder in intensity.
You must be at least 38″ (97cm) to ride Slinky Dog Dash.
Rider Switch (child swap) is available for parties with kids under the height requirement. If your child is close to the line, the cast member at the queue entrance will measure them against the post.
Short, smooth, and charming. The ride has two launches: a slow initial launch and a harder second launch at the midpoint. Top speed is around 20 mph. The theming (backyard playground elements scaled up to giant size) is pure Toy Story.
Motion is very gentle. Even adults who can't do big coasters usually love this one.
Slinky Dog Dash is a top-three Lightning Lane Multi Pass priority at Hollywood Studios, along with Rise of the Resistance and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. Standby routinely runs 60-100 minutes because capacity is relatively low.
Book at 7am if you're a resort guest. Same-day windows sell out early.
Average standby wait by season (observed over 2024-2025 data):

Rope drop Toy Story Land if you don't have Lightning Lane. Be at the Hollywood Studios tapstile 30 minutes before official open; walk briskly to Toy Story Land. The first 45 minutes of park operation will have a 15-25 minute Slinky Dog wait.
Evenings, especially after 9pm on late-operating nights, also work well. Toy Story Land empties out last.
The perfect "first real coaster" for younger kids. Low height requirement, gentle thrills, strong theming.
The ride leans fully into the IP. Photo ops with Woody and Buzz are nearby.
It's a family coaster. If you're chasing intensity, this is the wrong queue.
100% outdoor. Midday summer waits are in direct Florida sun. Bring water and a fan.
Sit in the back for extra air. The rear car gets more lift on the second launch and the drops. Front is smoother.
Check the on-ride photo. The ride auto-photographs your face at launch. Your expressions are usually priceless, especially on kids.
Don't skip the rest of Toy Story Land. While waiting for Slinky, you're near Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania — both are shorter-wait complements. Plan a mini-land day.
Bring a hat. The queue is mostly outdoor with limited shade. Summer afternoons can be brutal.
