The literal centerpiece of Fantasyland. A 1917 carousel restored and decorated with scenes from Cinderella, with 90 hand-painted horses โ no two alike. Symbolic of the park, brief, and almost never a wait.
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel began life in 1917 at the Detroit Palace Garden Park as the Liberty Carousel. After several relocations, it was acquired by Walt Disney Productions in 1967, fully restored, and installed at Magic Kingdom in 1971. It's one of the park's oldest physical objects โ the carousel mechanism predates Magic Kingdom by 54 years.
No height requirement โ any guest can ride. Children under 7 must be accompanied by someone 14 or older.
You climb onto one of 90 horses, all hand-carved and individually decorated. Each horse has its own pose, color scheme, and style. The lead horse โ visible by its gold trim and signature gold ribbon โ is associated with Cinderella herself.
The carousel rotates for about 2 minutes to a recording of the 'Cinderella Castle' music. Look at the painted ceiling panels โ each depicts a scene from the Cinderella film. Look at the horses' details โ each is genuinely unique.
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel doesn't have Lightning Lane. None needed โ high capacity (90 riders per cycle) and short cycles mean the line moves continuously.

Centerpiece of Fantasyland. Photos of kids on the lead horse are a Disney parents' staple.
It's a carousel. Charming for 2 minutes, but not a destination ride.
Find Cinderella's horse. The lead horse โ gold trim, gold ribbon โ is the one Cinderella allegedly rode. Kids love claiming it; the line for it can be longer than the line for the carousel itself.
Look up. The painted scenes on the carousel canopy depict moments from Cinderella. Most riders never look up.
Ride at night. The lit castle behind the carousel makes for one of the best photos in the park.
Stand outside and watch a cycle. The carousel is itself a photo subject. The view from the central plaza, especially at twilight, is a classic Disney shot.
